Several times a day I find myself smiling and asking the simple, rhetorical question: "Who rescued who?"

My husband and I share our home and our hearts with 5 magnificent companion animals (3 dogs and 2 cats) who once roamed the streets of Acapulco, Mexico, where we lived for 25 years.  Soon after my arrival in that sun-drenched Pacific port it became evident that the situation for animals in Paradise is not always sunny.  Too many four-legged friends suffering greatly and not enough human hands involved in the solution.  I offered mine; Grace stepped onto my path and my life has never been the same.

In 2007, together with a handful of very close, like-minded friends, I founded one of the first Animal Welfare Organizations in Acapulco, a city with close to 2,000,000 inhabitants. The mission of Happy Tails ~ Un Mundo Mejor para Los Animales was to Rescue + Rehabilitate, build Foster and Adoption Networks, and to provide free Spay/Neuter Clinics for those who could not afford to pay for this service for their animals. I loved the work, and welcomed any opportunity to help people see the true and honest essence of our companion animals.

My career in Animal Rescue began at about age 4, armed with a peanut butter jar to house lost fireflies.  I soon grew into more ambitious projects: stray kittens and the runts of puppy litters.  Happily many of those early rescues found their forever home right under our roof. Caring for animals has been a way of life for me for as long as I can remember.  They have been my closest companions, and as Masters in the Art of Forgiveness, they have been some of my greatest teachers.

Today, I continue to support the rescue efforts in Mexico, and to honor all of the loving and loyal animals that have enriched my life beyond measure, I keep several hours open on my calendar each month, donating time to photograph shelter animals in need of loving homes.  There is nothing that can make me happier now than to know that one of my photographs has helped someone to see an animal in a different light, opening their heart and home to a new friend.

If I can be of assistance to your organization, please call 847-951-7268 so I can schedule your animals for a future session.
